With 25 years of experience supporting and consulting in innovation and vision development for new products and services, Carl Frech, is both moderator and pulse of Fuenfwerken. His many years of entrepreneurial experience includes working for AUDI, Volkswagen, Swisscom, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Novartis, Whirlpool, Niketown, tegut, Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Dusseldorf Airport, and Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe u. a. active. Carl contributes his vast knowledge of design thinking models, business design, open innovation, strategic consulting as well as his own workshop- methodology wherever, whenever it is needed. Consistently forward-thinking, he does not forget the importance of concrete, hands-on craftsmanship and the present-day market orientation.
Carl worked 11 years for MetaDesign AG after completing his studies of visual communication at Berlin University of the Arts. As member of the executive board he played a pivotal role in the company’s development until 2002. With his innovative initiatives, he was responsible for the integration of company activities, as well as the development of new .
Today, Carl Frech is strategic consultant, partner and supervisory board chairman of Fuenfwerken Design AG, co-founder of Intuity Media Lab GmbH , and founder/CEO of NEXT AT eG, a project-oriented service network of companies in the fields of design, communication and media. In addition, Frech is co-founder of 4FOR GbR, a company focusing on innovation and business development, as well as co-founder and partner of drezeichen-verlags GbR.
In addition to his various honorary activities, Carl Frech is co-founder and member of gestaltBildung eV, member of the International Design Center in Berlin, and member of the board of Trustees of CREATE BERLIN e. V. He was the jury chairman of the Austria-funded programs CLASSIC and FOKUS as well and consults for the Austrian creative industry with a focus on innovation development. As a general well-known consultant in the industry he continuously lectures and provides workshops on topics of innovation, design and communication.
Since October 2005, Carl Frech teaches at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg in the fields of design, conception and design, with a focus on innovation. Since May 2011, he also teaches at the School of Design Thinking (d.school) at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. Since the fall of 2015, Carl Frech has served on the advisory board of the Master’s of International Business program at the Berlin University of Economics and Law. He lives with his family in Berlin.
